Emerald is built upon an elevated style of Maofeng ("hairy peak"—in reference to the many downy buds that pervade this tea), produced in Guangxi with a traditional Da Ye ("big leaf") cultivar. Our Long Kou maofeng comes directly from a semi-wild tea garden, and its twisted, twiggy appearance is a Guangxi novelty. Happily, because Da Ye cultivars tend to have such large leaves, this finished tea possesses a rare, enhanced flavor complexity and durability in the cup.
While traditional maofengs are noted for their mild, savory tones, our juicy maofeng boasts tropical notes of candied pineapple and citrus zest. The brewed liquor is medium-bodied and bright, with savory notes of umami and whipped oat cream. Emerald is crafted to be the quintessential, perfectly balanced cup of green tea.
